Purple Sunrise at Chalmette Battlefield, Louisiana

Chalmette Battlefield, St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana

A lone live oak stands in silhouette against a purple and orange sunrise at Chalmette Battlefield in St. Bernard Parish. The open field and broad sky give the oak room to breathe, and the colors build from deep violet to warm orange near the horizon. This is the image at the top of my homepage, and it is made for a large metal print, where the sky glows and the oak's branches stay crisp.
